Objective Link to heading

To develop a hardware platform with all associated software for streaming multiple high-quality videos (or other high bandwidth data) to multiple users simultaneously within a board room, classroom, factory floor, airplane/train/luxury bus coach/cabin, etc., providing a customized immersive experience to all users.

Setting Link to heading

Novelty: utilization of the high bandwidth provided by the mmwave bands over short ranges. All video content is transferred using mmwaves. To limit hardware complexity and hence the overall cost, we use another band, WiFi, for sending the requests from clients to the server.

Ideally, a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop PC can serve as the platform for the user. In our initial implementation, such devices with Linux operating systems were demonstrated. Custom hardware, like a dongle, will be required with each user terminal, communicating with a server PC equipped with the 5G hardware we have developed, and loaded with a media library.
